I feel like a lot of people talk about golden hour as being the most magical time of the day for that gorgeous golden light. Which, I mean, it’s totally magical so those opinions are completely warranted. But, in case you didn’t know, blue hour is kind of super magical too. It’s the time right after the sun goes down and everything is a little bit dreamier, blue toned, with no sunlight to be found. Just a glow of soft and moody light. I think it might be my favorite time to shoot because to me it just makes colors pop more and I love the crispness in the air. It’s like you can feel it through the photos.

This bridal session is from Sadie + Caleb’s wedding day that I wanted to make a separate blog post for because I love so many of them but didn’t want to include them in the other post and make it take an eternity to get through. Their venue was in Molalla and had this gorgeous view that I knew would be peeerfect for bridal portraits. We made sure to sneak off for no more than a half hour (I never want to steal my couples away from their party for long if at all) and had the best time taking these dreamy portraits. I totally recommend making time on your day for blue hour portraits because...I mean just scroll down and you’ll know.

I'm in love with this romantic bridal inspiration shoot. I wanted to show brides that you can have a comfortable and simple look on your wedding day that still feels like you.

Getting ready for your wedding day can be such a special and intimate time if you want it to be. Whether you're surrounded by your girls or just putting yourself together, it's the beginning of you on your best day. This is actually my favorite part of the wedding day if you can believe it!! I love pulling brides aside and taking some timeless and delicate photos to capture this time forever. I want you to freak out about how amazing you looked on your day every time you see the photos.

With the help of some amazing local Portland vendors, we were able to create two beautiful bridal looks. A little bit modern, a little bit boho and a lot of romance. Arranged For You florals came through with TWO gorgeous bouquets that added so much to the looks. The accessories were so good, I seriously can't decide if I love the Sara Gabriel veil more or that gorgeous Emma Katzka crown. Thanks so much to Portland's a&bé bridal shop for loaning the dress for the shoot and for styling the looks!

When you're planning out your bridal look, make sure each piece makes you feel like you. Schedule a time to do a makeup and hair trial with your MUA and redo it as many times as you need until you're totally happy! That's what trials are for!! I'm totally the kind of person that would feel super guilty about asking for more do overs so if that's you too, I feel ya, girl. Try on your dress with all of your accessories until everything feels totally right.

You don't want to look like a stranger on your wedding day, you want to look like your best self.

Check out a&beé bridal shop's blog post of this styled shoot!

Ahhh I love this shoot. Stephen and Melrose didn't end up having much time on their wedding day for couples portraits so, we made time the day after to do a little mini session before they moved states. We found a beautiful spot in the park right after sunset perfect for this romantic shoot.

Towards the end of the shoot we were pretty deep into the nature park and it was almost so dark that we couldn't see anything. As we're gathering our things, we hear what sounds like a pack of wolves howling (!!). It could have been a pack of teenagers but it was reaaaally close to us so we didn't have much time to think about it. We decided it was best to just RUN back to the car as fast as we could. Imagine Melrose carrying her heels and RUNNING barefoot in her freaking wedding dress all the way back to the car! The car was about a mile away up a hill so we were all dead when we got back. But we didn't run into any wolves on the way so it was worth it, haha!

Having that said, I totally recommend doing bridals the day before (some couples do their first look this way!) or the day after your wedding!! It's a perfect way to get a bunch of freaking beautiful portraits of you and your person with no stress of the timeline and leaves you way more time to hang out and party with your wedding guests. Also I loooove shooting them so I'm very biased. Hopefully no wolves will join us on your shoot!!
